The Regional Bishops’ Conference, M.P & C.G
The Regional Bishops Conference came into being by the founding of the Archdiocese of Bhopal in 1963. Most Rev. Dr. Eugene D’Souza was the first chairman of this body. He led the region with an able leadership. Numbers of commissions were established to look into different aspects of the spread of the gospel through various channels. The Public Relations Office was included in the communication and dialogue missions. . After thirty years of service to the Archdiocese of Bhopal, Most Rev. Dr. Eugene D’Souza laid down his office and Most. Rev. Dr. Pascal Topno has taken over the position from 20th May 1994. In the year 1997 the Public Relations Office was separated and made it a separate department to better deal with the challenges of the times There are twelve diocese in the region namely Ambikapur, Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Jagadalpur, Jhabua, Khandwa, Raigarh, Raipur, Sagar , Satna, and Ujjain.

A) Archdiocese of Bhopal

The Archdiocese of Bhopal was founded on September 13, 1963. When the Archdiocese was started, there were only a few religious institutions in the Diocese. Today, the church in Madhya Pradesh has grown rapidly and currently the Archdiocese of Bhopal has more than hundred Religious Institutions, working for the development of poor and marginalized communities. Bhopal is the Capital of the State of Madhya Pradesh. Three years back the state of Madhya Pradesh (M.P) was divided into two. The State of Chattisgarh (C.G) came into being yet the Church of M.P and C.G works as one body.

B) Regional Public Relations Office.

The Regional Public Relations Office works as an extended body of the Regional Bishops Conference in dealing with the matters of the public interest. The structure, (the members), of the Public Relations Office is as follows 1. Archbishop (Ex officio Chairman) ,2. All the bishops, 3.Regional P. R. O (Ex officio Convener), 4. P.R.Os of all dioceses, 5. Regional Heads of all Commissions and Associations 7.President of the C R I 8. Three lay persons selected by the dioceses and 9. A Few nominated members (experts in different fields)

The Activities

Information Cell : - Coordination and sharing of the updated information regarding the Christian community in region to develop collaboration within the church
Free Legal Aid Cell : - A group of Advocates, police officials, Retired Judges and other eminent persons work in the team.
Inter–religio Political Support Cell: - The problems faced by the church are religio-political in nature. A team of religious leaders from various religions, leaders of different political parties work together in crisis time and in normal times.
The Licening With Governmental and Non-governmental Organizations : -
A licening Officer is appointed to look in to the matters of concerns of the Church in the matters related to Education, Health, and other concerns of the Church.
Inter linking of NGOs working in the state to strengthen the social structure of the Church and community.
Net Working with Non-governmental Organizations : - The NGOs play a vital role in the opinion formation and the decision making in the social sector. The PRO office tries to make better relations with such organizations to spread the views of the church. It brings support for the Church as whole.
Media Management Cell : - The Media remained hostile to the Church for many years. They always accused the Church of Poselitation and Conversion of the poor Scheduled Castes and Tribals. This cell calls the media on various occasions and festivals to brief the views of the Church on various issues in the society, the services of the Church, and tries to bring up Christian leaders.

 
THE FORUMS THAT ARE WORKING WITH PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFCE.
There many steps taken by the public relations office in bring smooth relationship with other communities, media, government organizations, unity among the churches etc. These different bodies are working in every diocese at various names according to the feasibility of the place.

a) MAHDYS BHARAT IESAI MAHA SABA (Central India Christian Forum)
This was founded by the bishops of the Catholic Church and the protestant churches and the lay leaders of the both Churches. It is meant to build the unity among the Christians.

b) Isai Legak Samiti (Christian Writers Forum)
This is founded to encourage and train the Christians in writing and promote journalism. This forum manages the positive publicity in favour of the Church.

c) Sarv Dharm Sadbhavna Samiti (Inter-religious Forum)
It is a body of the spiritual leaders of various religions. We organize prayer meeting in every three months at various places. This forum makes different programmes for confidence building among various faiths.

d) Akhil Bhartia Isai Mahasaba ( All India Christian Forum)
It is a political forum to create political awareness among the Christian Community. The Christians have always been very much away from the politics in the North India. This has caused a lot of negligence of the Christian Community in North India. It takes up programmes to create political awareness among the community about the political rights of the Christian community.

e) Christian Utsav Samiti (The Christian Festival Committee)
It is a cultural committee of the different churches; it organizes different cultural programmes in the Christian festivals like Christmas, Easter etc. It also collaborates with other religious groups to celebrate various festivals of other religions.

f) Anusucit Jangati Iesai Klyan Samiti (Tribal and Scheduled caste Christian Welfare Board)
This a body that takes care of the Christian Tribals and who were converted from the lower castes and very specially issues related to Christian Minority rights.
