Khrist Premalaya Regional Philosophate, Bhopal is the fruit of the project envisaged 28 years ago by the late bishops Francis Simons of Indore, Conard Doubleman of Jabalpur and Eugene D'Souza of Bhopal, to make priestly training suitable and relevant to the contemporary context of MPCG Region.

KPRP, owned by the Catholic Bishops of MPCG, has been taken care by the SVD society since its inception. The current academic year has 97 students hailing from 22 dioceses of North India. There are also 10 Passionist students attending classes as day-scholars. Along with 4-year philosophy training, the students pursue a college degree at the BSSS College. Integral training of the candidate who would engage in the liberative action for oneself as well as for others is the philosophy of this philosophate.

Pastoral Centre in an institution of the Archdiocese of Bhopal, blessed and inaugurated on 26th February 2000 with the purpose of pastoral animation of Priests, Religious and Lay people especially of the Archdiocese of Bhopal. The thrust has been the formation of lay people. Hence many regular courses and programmes are conducted in the Centre for various groups of people like SCC Leaders, Catechism teachers, School teachers, Altar Boys and Girls, those preparing for marriage and married couples. When the Centre remains free, the facilities are made available to ecclesiastical institutions or organizations, which are ready to make contributions towards the expenses incurred.

At present the Centre has the following facilities

Accommodation for 100 participants in

rooms on twin-sharing basis with toilets

attached.

Warm water (through solar heating system)

is available in every room.

In 1871 Princess Isabella renewed the promises of the Vicar Apostolic, Bp. Tosi of Mcap. As a result two Capuchin priests Fr. Raphael and Fr. Norbert were sent to Bhopal. On the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, 4th Oct. 1881 the foundation of the Church was laid and a High mass was celebrated on a temporary altar. In the year 1963 St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral, Jehangirabad became a permanent parish and regular masses were offered in this parish.

It is a retreat centre of Bhopal Archdiocese. As there was no retreat centre in the Archdiocese, people had to travel long distances to attend retreats. His Grace, Archbishop Pascal Topno sensed the genuine need for a renewal retreat centre in the Archdiocese. Thus about 4 acres of land was purchased in 1997. The construction of the Divine Retreat Ashram began in 2002 and it was completed in 2006. On 25th January 2007 the Divine Retreat Ashram was inaugurated and blessed by His Grace Pascal Topno.

Preliminary Information

ANWC was registered as an independent entity under the Registrar & Firm Societies act 1973 dated 9/3/1998 with registration No. 5668/98. This society has also registered under section 12 A & 80 G of Income Tax Act 1961 as well as under Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi and obtained FCRA Number. Our operational area comprises of four civil districts (Bhopal, Sehore, Harda & Hoshangabad) of Madhya Pradesh. ANWC is at present working in 210 villages and 7 slums in Bhopal.

Our major Activities : Food Security, Enhancement of Sustainable Livelihoods, Integrated Natural Resource Management, Community College, Community Health Activities with special focus on HIV/AIDS, MMR and IMR through Dispensaries, Mobile Clinics & Awareness Programmes, Child Focused Community Development programme, Emergency Relief Management Programmes.

MPSSS is registered under M.P. firms and Societies Registration Act 1973, on 25th September 1998. It has gradually attained the status of a Co-ordinating Agency (NGO) for all the developmental Programmes in 13 Catholic Dioceses of MP and Chhattisgarh Region. Though basically it covers the target states of MP and Chhattisgarh, the jurisdiction of the Forum has been extended to "Whole of India" through an amendment in the Memorandum of the Association duly certified by the Registrar on 20th December 2002. MPSSS has also obtained the FCRA Registration number under the Foreign Contribution (Regulations) Act 1976 from the ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India on 15th March 2004.

The main activities of MPSSS are capacity building training, linkages and collaboration with Govt. Bodies and like minded NGOs and eradication of dreaded diseases like TB, Cancer and AIDS and render assistance during natural calamities.
